Replace them with fresh ones. Why Cant I Get my Smoker Hot Enough. Even after learning the various tips you can incorporate to raise your smoker temperature there are cases where your smoker still doesnt get hot enough.
If this happens it could be because of one the following reasons. The environmental temperatures are just too low. Unfortunately its 15 degrees outside and I cant get the smoker over 150 degrees.
Ive tried opening all the vents even used a fan to force more air in. Im using kingsford briquets. I tried piling them in there and then tried it with less charcoal.
Nothing I do seems to raise the temperature. Feel like your smoker just isnt hot enough. First ensure you still have enough charcoal in your fire box.

You could always remove the lid for about 15 min to get more air to the coals and get them blazing hot then put the lid back on. I have a question. I recently built a aluminum trashcan electric smoker very similar to this one.
And I just cant get the damn thing hot enough. It gets to around 160 internally and just will not get warmer. I am eagerly awaiting a new hot plate but the one I have currently seems to get pretty hot.
The firebox doesnt need to be full and because your grill is not very well insulated you will likely need to add charcoal during the cook. I think your problem was that you had too much charcoal in the firebox and you were not getting good airflow. Smoking can be done between 200.

Masterbuilt Electric Smoker doesnt provide enough heat to cook the meat evenly for using improper fuel. In this case you can use quality wood chips or chunks like oak or hickory. Some of us soak the wood chips to let them not burn quickly.

Its a double whammy for your cooking temps first the charcoal at the bottom doesnt get any oxygen causing it to burn poorly or not at all second the ash cant fall away causing the actual burning charcoal to not be able to access oxygen. The one thing I was most impressed with is no matter how many hot coals you add to the chamber the smoker maintains between 250 - 275 so it does exactly what it was designed to do low and slow.
In the future I will use my OTG for high heat cooks and reserve the WSM for low and slow this seems to be the best rule of thumb when dealing with the 225 WSM. Smoker wont get hot enough. Reply 1 on.
