So lets go over them. The Breville machines have a small hole in their cleaning disc to allow a small amount of water to clean out the portafilter while the bulk of the water flows through the 3-way valve into the drip tray. Its possible the small hole in the cleaning disc has gotten clogged.
Breville changed the design of the cleaning disc and eliminated the hole but they never bothered to update the instructions. The purpose of cleaning is to backflush the 3-way solenoid valve. Its not a problem that no water flows out of the portafilter.
Use your cleaning tool with the needle to poke through the hole at the end of the steam wand tip. Re-assemble the steam wand and wipe down with a clean damp towel. Turn the machine on and allow it to reach brewing.
Insert the 54mm Cleaning Disc into the Dual Wall Single Shot filter and press this into the portafilter until it clicks in place. Remove one of the provided cleaning tablets and set that in the center of the cleaning disc. Lock the portafilter into the machine as if extracting a shot.
Turn OFF the power to the machine. The instructions for cleaning the machine state to use the single cup basket plus a rubber disc and cleaning tablet. You then activate the machine and water is to intermittently come out thru the group head.
